Westerose, AB\u00a0 \u2013 <\/span><\/strong><\/span>During the 2025 Fall Senior Symposium Banquet on October 26, 4-H Alberta proudly announced the incoming Ambassadors alongside this year\u2019s Premier\u2019s Award recipient.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Premier\u2019s Award<\/b> is the highest honour bestowed upon a 4-H Alberta member. Originally donated by the Honourable E.C. Manning, Premier of Alberta, the award was first presented in 1964 to recognize an outstanding 4-H member\u2019s leadership, dedication, and contributions. Each year, the Premier\u2019s Award recipient is selected from among the current 4-H Ambassadors and represents 4-H Alberta at provincial and national events. The recipient also meets with Alberta\u2019s Premier and the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Economic Development.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year\u2019s recipient, <\/span>Isabella Sweet<\/b>, 18, from <\/span>Lacombe, Alberta<\/b>, was selected as the <\/span>2026 Premier\u2019s Award Winner<\/b> in recognition of her exceptional leadership as an Ambassador and her passion for advancing 4-H in Alberta.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sweet first joined 4-H for the fun and friendships, but soon discovered the program’s transformative power. Through her journey, she has developed leadership, motivation, determination, and organizational skills while embracing the importance of community service. She has participated and volunteered in leadership roles at the club, district, regional, and provincial levels.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c4-H has been my passion, especially in my final year (2024\u20132025). Having experienced 4-H provincially, regionally (as Vice President and Ambassador), and at the district and club levels, I\u2019ve seen its impact from every angle,\u201d said Sweet. \u201cSince high school, 4-H has been my priority, a welcoming environment where I can help younger members discover their love for the program. 4-H, to me, is family, confidence-building, and connection, not just projects or awards. This award allows me to spread my enthusiasm for 4-H and showcase its countless benefits through community involvement.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

In addition to the Premier\u2019s Award, Sweet was also recognized with the <\/span>Ted Youck Outstanding Achievement and Leadership in 4-H Alberta Award<\/b>. This award, generously donated by long-time 4-H supporter <\/span>Ted Youck<\/b>, was presented with his daughter, <\/span>Leta Youck<\/b>, in attendance to congratulate Isabella. The award will continue to accompany the Premier\u2019s Award recipient for the next six years. Sweet will also represent Alberta at <\/span>4-H Canada\u2019s Citizenship Congress<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Isabella succeeds <\/span>Grace Tabler<\/b>, the 2025 Premier\u2019s Award recipient. Candidates for the Premier\u2019s Award are evaluated on their leadership, communication skills, passion for 4-H, participation as an Ambassador, application quality, and personal interview.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe 4-H Alberta members who applied for the Premier\u2019s Award or Ambassador positions should be incredibly proud for taking the next step in their leadership journey,\u201d said <\/span>Sydney Walsh, Summer Programs and Youth Development Coordinator<\/b>. \u201cEach applicant demonstrated a passion for 4-H and a drive for excellence. The interview panels were impressed by the professionalism, preparedness, and enthusiasm of all participants. We\u2019re thrilled to welcome Isabella and the entire 2025\u20132026 Ambassador Team.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

4-H Alberta Ambassadors are enthusiastic Senior Members committed to growing 4-H across Alberta by sharing their experiences, developing leadership opportunities, and representing youth at local, regional, and provincial levels. Senior Members can apply to become an Ambassador through an online application and virtual interview process beginning each September. Up to two Ambassadors per region may be selected for a two-year term.<\/span><\/p>\n

About the Fall Senior Symposium<\/b><\/h2>\n

Held October 24\u201326, 2025, at the <\/span>Sundre Pioneer Lodge<\/b>, the Fall Senior Symposium welcomed 100 Senior Members from across Alberta. Participants engaged in hands-on workshops focused on career development, resume and interview preparation, and personal growth.<\/span><\/p>\n

Representatives from <\/span>AFSC<\/b> and the <\/span>CPA Education Foundation<\/b> also provided educational sessions and career insights, offering members the chance to network and explore future opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n
