The 4-H Alberta Hall of Fame is an esteemed acknowledgment celebrating Albertans who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to the 4-H program as volunteers. These individuals are recognized for their outstanding leadership and significant impact on 4-H youth and leaders. Since its inception in 1971 by Premier Lougheed, the Hall of Fame has been a testament to the dedication and achievements of its inductees.

Joyce Kelly has dedicated more than three decades to the 4-H program as a member, parent, and leader, making a lasting impact across club, district, regional, and provincial levels. Known for her leadership in equine programming, Joyce has served extensively on regional horse committees and the Provincial Equine Advisory Committee, helping to shape programming and resources that continue to support leaders and members across Alberta. She has been instrumental in developing innovative learning opportunities such as regional equine events and hands-on learning days, always ensuring members are engaged, supported, and inspired. Beyond 4-H, Joyce’s deep connection to agriculture and her community is evident through her work as a farrier, rancher, and mentor, as well as her commitment to youth education and community service. Her generosity, mentorship, and unwavering dedication have made her a respected and influential leader throughout the Northwest Region and beyond.

Darryl Langille’s 4-H journey spans over 40 years, beginning as a member in the Rosalind 4-H Beef Club and evolving into decades of leadership and mentorship. As a long-time leader with the Lacombe 4-H Outsiders Multi-Club, Darryl has guided countless youth, fostering confidence, leadership, and life skills. He is widely recognized for creating meaningful learning experiences, including public speaking development and outdoor leadership opportunities such as backcountry backpacking trips that have become highlights for many members. Darryl’s impact extends beyond the club level, contributing at district, provincial, and national levels through leadership conferences, chaperoning experiences, and collaborative initiatives that connect clubs across Alberta. His steady, thoughtful leadership and commitment to youth development have left a lasting impression on generations of 4-H members.

4-H Alberta Board Chair Syeda Khurram shared her appreciation for this year’s inductees, stating, “Joyce and Darryl exemplify the very best of 4-H through their dedication, leadership, and genuine commitment to young people. Their contributions have strengthened our communities and created meaningful opportunities for youth to grow and succeed. Both have made a lasting impact on the 4-H program in Alberta, and we are proud to recognize their incredible achievements.”

The inductees exemplify the 4-H motto of “Learn to Do by Doing” through their outstanding leadership and embody the 4-H pledge of service and commitment at all organizational levels, including club, community, country, and world.

An awards ceremony to honour the 2025 inductees will be held at the 4-H Centre. This event will celebrate the achievements of Joyce Kelly and Darryl Langille and recognize their significant contributions to the 4-H program and its enduring legacy in Alberta. Details to follow.
